Scope
This policy applies to the FlowWrite desktop app, getflowwrite.com, and the pages used for product support, feedback, subscription information, and compliance. FlowWrite is operated by Beijing Wangyan Technology Studio.
Your writing
FlowWrite stores manuscripts, chapter titles, story references, ideas, media, and snapshots on your device or in a library, synced folder, or external drive you choose.
We do not routinely collect, upload, or transfer your writing. Content enters another service only when you export or share it, attach it to feedback, or authorize an AI or Agent feature to use the necessary context.
Information we may collect
When allowed in app settings or submitted by you, we may process:
- A random device identifier, app version, system version, and basic diagnostic details.
- Crash, error, and warning logs used to identify faults.
- Feature events that do not contain manuscript content, such as whether import, export, save, subscription entry, or AI functions were used.
- Feedback text, images, email address, and necessary environment details that you choose to send.
- Website visits, sources, device, and browser information when site analytics is enabled.
- Basic network information such as IP address, User-Agent, and request time when a service is accessed.
We do not treat manuscript text, book or chapter titles, search and replacement text, third-party API keys, or raw AI requests as default analytics data.
How we use information
We use this information only to improve stability and quality, diagnose problems, respond to feedback, maintain subscription and support experiences, and meet necessary legal obligations. We do not use it for advertising or unrelated profiling.
FlowWrite services and third parties
FlowWrite self-hosted services may process limited diagnostic, logging, and anonymous usage information needed to maintain the product. They should not receive manuscript text, book or chapter titles, search terms, third-party API keys, or raw requests.
Third-party services include:
- App Store and Apple IAP for installation, updates, subscriptions, purchase restoration, and refunds.
- Baidu Analytics for website traffic statistics when enabled.
- Tencent Cloud CLS for redacted application warning and error logs.
- Tucao (兔小巢) for feedback you choose to submit from the app.
- Your selected model provider, only when you enable and authorize AI or Agent features. Providers may include Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, Doubao, MiniMax, and Zhipu.
AI and Agent features
Model API keys are stored in local app settings and used to contact the provider you select. A model request may contain your prompt and the manuscript or reference context needed for the authorized task. The provider handles that data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Your choices
- You may disable anonymous usage data and crash reporting in app settings without losing core writing features.
- Feedback and email are voluntary. Do not send unredacted manuscripts, passwords, complete payment records, or third-party API keys.
- You may view, move, back up, or delete your local library. Removing the app may not remove a library, synced folder, or export you selected separately.
- You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of consent for personal information we control.
Retention, security, and changes
We retain diagnostics, feedback, and website information for a reasonable period needed for the stated purpose and take appropriate measures to reduce data risk. You remain responsible for backups of the library stored on your device or chosen service.
When collection, third parties, or product behavior changes materially, we will update this policy and use the website, app, settings, or release notes to provide notice where appropriate.
