Help / Agent

Let the writing agent understand the book

Connect your model provider and ask the agent to analyze or revise within boundaries you approve.

A general chat tool sees only the passage you paste. With your permission, FlowWrite’s writing agent can work with the current book and help across characters, plot, references, and chapters.

It proposes. You decide. Turning on the agent does not silently rewrite the manuscript.

Connect a model provider

In Settings - AI, choose a provider, enter your own service key, and select a model. Use Custom for another compatible service. Test the connection before saving.

The Intelligent plan does not include model usage. Your chosen provider sets and charges its own fees, and the service key remains in local app settings rather than the book.

Authorize one book at a time

Book access is separate for every project. Without permission, the agent cannot read that book’s prose or reference material. You can revoke access whenever you stop using it.

Ask for a bounded task

State the goal, scope, and what must remain unchanged. For example:

  • “Check whether the protagonist’s motive stays consistent in chapters 1-3. Point out problems without editing.”
  • “Use the existing timeline to find possible date conflicts in chapter 5.”
  • “Make this chapter tighter while preserving every planted clue. Show a plan first.”

For important passages, begin with analysis or a plan before considering edits.

Review every proposed change

Changes to prose, outlines, or notes appear as proposals. Inspect the difference, accept or skip it, or continue the discussion. Larger tasks may pause between steps for confirmation and can resume from that point.

Inspector shows what a task read, requested, and produced without changing the book.
