Your work is a set of files before it is a book in an app. FlowWrite stores the manuscript and its supporting material in the library you choose, without requiring a FlowWrite account.
Know where the book lives
The library contains books, chapters, story references, media, history, and the idea inbox. It can use the default location, a folder you choose, or a visible iCloud Drive folder.
Settings shows the active library location. Use FlowWrite’s library switching or migration flow when moving it.
Make backups that are truly separate
- Back up the complete library to another disk, Time Machine, or a trusted sync service.
- Create a book snapshot before a large rewrite, import, or replacement.
- Export Word, EPUB, TXT, or ZIP at meaningful milestones.
A snapshot belongs to the same library and does not replace an independent backup. An export is useful for delivery and exchange, but it is not a complete library copy.
Use iCloud Drive carefully
Wait for the previous Mac to finish syncing before switching devices, and let the current Mac download all book files before opening them. Keep an additional backup for important work because sync conflicts and unavailable files can still occur.
Bring drafts in and finished work out
FlowWrite imports TXT and Word documents as editable chapters. Review headings, paragraphs, spacing, and media after import.
Export Word for editing or delivery, TXT or Markdown for plain text, EPUB for reading previews, and ZIP for a complete book package. Exporting creates a copy and does not change the manuscript in your library.
