Import, export, cover selection, media insertion, and library selection use the macOS file window. If it does not appear, these checks help separate an app problem from a system or cloud-drive problem.
Try three simple checks
- Wait briefly and check whether the window opened behind FlowWrite or on another desktop space.
- Quit FlowWrite completely, reopen it, and try again.
- Try opening a file window in another app such as TextEdit.
If the problem affects only FlowWrite, send feedback from the app and include the action, macOS version, and FlowWrite version.
If several apps are affected, restart the Mac. If the problem remains, check iCloud Drive.
Check iCloud Drive
Open Finder and select iCloud Drive. Wait for uploads and downloads to finish and make sure important files are either synced or separately backed up.
Do not choose Remove from Mac while you are unsure whether local files have finished uploading.
Reconnect iCloud Drive only after backing up
When several apps cannot show file windows and important files are safely backed up:
- Open System Settings and go to your Apple Account’s iCloud settings.
- Open Drive and turn off Sync this Mac.
- Choose Keep a Copy if any upload status is uncertain.
- Wait for iCloud Drive to disappear from Finder, then turn syncing on again.
- Let the first sync finish, reopen FlowWrite, and test again.
Apple explains the related controls in Turn off Desktop and Documents folders or iCloud Drive.
Do not delete macOS cloud-drive databases or cache folders from Terminal. This can create new sync problems or affect files that have not uploaded.
